I first heard about large-scale cancer fundraisers during high school when I learned of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. I immediately became involved with the program, and I think of it as one of my most valuable and beneficial experiences in high school. In coming to Hopkins, I was eager to see what kinds of ACS-related fundraisers were on campus. When a friend mentioned the Hopkins 4K, I was extremely interested. I was excited by both the ambitious fundraising goal set for the team as well as by the chance to bike across the country. This summer I will be riding for my uncle and my good friend/second mother, both of whom have been recently diagnosed with cancer, and I will think of them as I hear stories and meet people all over the US.
Future Goals:
After graduation I plan to spend a couple years working at some sort of psychology clinic or interning at a private practice, and then I will go on to graduate school to get a PhD/PsyD so that I can become a psychologist. I would like to be a marriage counselor, or perhaps another type of counselor specializing in interpersonal relationships.
