I am riding across the country this summer for my mom who passed away during my sophomore year in college. This trip is in honor of her memory. Her whole-hearted fight against colon cancer was an admirable one, and since she passed away, I’ve struggled to find a way to show her my appreciation for everything she taught me. This trip is to thank her for everything. In addition to her memory, I am also riding for friends who have survived cancer and for those who are still fighting.
Future Goals:
I’m in an Education Masters program at Columbia, so I look forward to teaching little children and leaving a positive impression on the future minds of America!! It may be cheesy, but it’s true. I want to be one of those teachers that people never forget; the teacher that everyone looks back on with fond memories. I’m excited to be so close to attaining my future goals and this trip is going to be a great starting point. Other than teaching, I am definitely going to take advantage of my free summers to travel the world for the rest of my life. Heading across the country on my bike is simply the first step.
