The chances of an American man developing cancer in his lifetime is 1 in 2 while the chances of an American woman developing cancer in her lifetime is 1 in 3. Numbers don't mean much until they affect you. These numbers changed my life when my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer. The loss of my grandfather made it clear to me that the strongest means in the fight against cancer are bringing awareness by teaching early detection, early response. Empowering the public in
understanding the effects of cancer and the importance of check ups saves lives and gives hope to those already in the battle. For myself, the feeling of frustration and despair towards the loss of my hero was something that I hope know one has to ever feel. The ride cross-country is dedicated to all the loved ones we have lost. Along
the way, it will be a time to spread awareness, share stories, foster hope, and fundraise. I, along with 28 other riders, will be biking
from Baltimore to San Francisco because we believe that one more life
lost to cancer is one too many.

Future Plans: In the near future I hope to bring awareness of early
detection, early response treatment to people in the developing countries of Southwest Asia. After graduating with a public health degree I hope to continue graduate studies and serve the city of
Baltimore.
