DAY OFF
Today, we all enjoyed a day off from our bikes. We arrived in the beautiful city of St. Louis, Missouri yesterday afternoon and spent last night in the comfortable beds in the dorms of Washington University. This morning we made French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, star shaped biscuits, pancakes, and prepared an assortment of fruits and drinks for the cancer patients and their friends and family residing at the Hope Lodge here in St. Louis. Great stories were shared over delicious food at the event.

The rest of the day was spent viewing the gorgeous St. Louis skyline from the Arch, shopping, touring the Anheuser Busch company grounds, performing bike maintenance, doing laundry, napping, and enjoying the beautiful weather.

For dinner, we all traveled to Emily Smith’s (an ex-4ker from the 2003 trip) home where a wonderful and delicious meal complete with hot dogs, hamburgers, apple-marshmallow salad, fried ravioli, and other St. Louis specialties was waiting for us. The Smith estate was decked out with a giant trampoline, outdoor patio, and natural serenity. We would like to thank the Smith family for all their generosity and the wonderful food and desserts that they had provided for us! Gooey butter cake and Ted Drewes ice cream were to die for!!! The spectacular meal and hospitality has thoroughly prepared us riders for the century ride tomorrow!!
