I am riding not only to raise awareness, but also to promote the idea that cancer is not a destiny; that you can be proactive in deciding your fate. In fact, tobacco, alcohol, and diet are attributed to 68% of all cancer related deaths. By adopting healthy lifestyle choices, you can reduce your chances of becoming a cancer victim. This concept is also a personal one; my grandfather died of lung cancer due to a lifetime of heavy smoking. My goal is to not only learn more about how cancer affects everyday people throughout the US, but to spread a message of hope and compassion for those who are suffering or are susceptible to this disease.

Future plans: I will be graduating in May 2008 with a Master's in Public Health. I plan on pursuing a career in health advocacy.
